Oh how beautiful it is outside. We are finally in the Paradise winter mode. We took a ride to the point yesterday and this morning we have another 5 to 6 inches of new snow and hopefully another 5 to 6 today. We will be watching The snow fall and hoping winter will stay till at least the end of March. Enjoy your Sunday!!

It's Snowing!

We are finally getting some snow. We miss the winter and need it for our towns livelihood. The trails are getting so we need a good snowfall to bring them up to the excellent riding conditions we usually have up here. The groomers have done a great job and people are still out riding. I hope we get a lot more snow before the week-end. The birds and the spruce grouse are coming in to the feeders this morning. I have never seen more than one grouse here and this morning I had two. Boy, the little things that make me happy. The sky is grey this morning and blends with the darker grey of the lake. The ice is further out and the waves of the other day have destroyed my icebergs out front. We are going to enjoy being out in the snow and working outside. What a life! Dennis has worked very hard for us to have it. Enjoy your day!

Where is the Snow

We are way behind in our snowfall. People are still coming up to ride our trails but we need snow soon. The Groomers up here are doing a great job keeping our trails as good as they can. We are supposed to have a chance of rain today and then hopefully the weather patterns will change and we will get the snow we need to keep the life blood of the town flowing--Snow, Snow, Snow. The Ice in the front has a different look to it. The big icebergs we had have been taken out and it is flat. I liked to see the waves break over them but now they are gone. Hope you all have a good week-end. Be good to each other.

Not to Brave

He was back last night but any movement or shadow scares him. I guess that is a good thing.

Caught!

We finally caught something on our trail cam. You have to watch because he comes out at the very end of the film. What is it?

Blue Sky

We are at 9 degrees. It is almost balmy compared to the -11 of yesterday. All kinds of animals were out and about late last night. I love to watch them. The fox was checking out the red squirrel tunnels. No luck there. The raccoon waddled in very early this morning to check for the corn I put out for the grouse. You can catch movement and shadow on the edge of the tree line but some are so cautious you don't get a good look at what is there. The fox ran when a big shadow loomed at the edge but I don't know for sure what it was. It was a big dog shaped shadow but as soon as I made a slight movement it melted back into the woods. The eagle flew by this morning on his way down to Norms. It hangs out near the river. They sure are a beautiful bird. I think we are going for a ride today. There is so much to see here, natures wonder at every turn. You don't have to be a outside person to enjoy this country. Come on up. Have a good day!

COLD!!!!!

-11 degrees this morning. There is a fog moving across open water and steam is coming out of the ice volcanoes on the ice ridge. My birds are fighting over the suet and gobbling up the sunflower seeds trying to get some energy to keep their little bodies from freezing. The yard is full of animal tracks from different animals out looking for food. The house is a cozy 75 degrees and the heat from the wood stove is much appreciated. The dog sled races are today. We were going to go watch but I don't know if I want to stand out in this cold. The work we did hauling, moving and stacking our wood is paying off now in this bitter cold. Have a good day and stay warm.

Deep Freeze

Oh boy are we cold. The stove is turning out the heat and we watch the snow blow across the lake and shiver at the thought of braving the outside. We are up to 2 degrees. The house is quiet now as Ann, Rich and kids have left for home. We are always sad to see them go and miss the noises of kids in the house. The kids cleaned the downstairs for me and Pierce made all the beds upstairs. They are planning on coming back for Easter vacation. Maybe the other grandkids can come too. Terese Rose would like to come but that trip from Virginia is long and parents vacation time has not enough weeks in it. We went to Brimley to eat at the casinos buffet. Every one ate well and had a good time. Kyle can really eat. It is amazing the amount of food he can put away for seven years old. Dennis and I have to fill the wood boxes and then we will put our feet up and relax by the stove--maybe take a nap. Have a good day! Stay warm!
