The Game
Ann, Rich, Kids, and friends made it here early Friday morning. They had a terrible ride here. Rain in downpours, freezing rain and then nasty snow and icy roads. I was so glad they made it safe. They are very good drivers but it is the people around them that worry me. We were out last night and a lot of crazy people were on the road. Cars were off the road all up and down I-75. Today they headed for Greek town and then the HOCKEY game! I think there are about 28 people in their group. They should have a great time. It is so nice to see all the kids together. Have a good night!

Happy Easter!!
It was a nice Easter even though it was cold and we all missed Ann, Rich, Becca. Sarah and Terese Rose. It is always great to have the whole family together but they are all coming down this week so we will see them soon. I have pictures of the kids hunting their Easter eggs and look at Kyle Joes feet. He couldn't find his shoes so he hunted eggs in Mikes big shoes. He always makes us laugh. I hope everyone had as good a day as we did. I'm putting pictures separate because I always mess it up if I try to put them in the post.

Happy Birthday Jen!
Happy Birthday Day! We hope you have a great year coming. You are much loved and Dennis and Matt have a better life because of you. I admire the way you get up and get into work in all kinds of weather as I am terrified to drive in snow. You make your home a nice place to be. We love you Jen---my son has a good life partner and Matt has a good Mom.

More Snow
We got another 3 inches of snow today. It was looking a little dirty but now the snow has made everything beautiful again. The icebreaker is constantly on the move. It is flushing the ice out of the bay. Spring is still awhile off. We are later to get warm and early to cool off. Norm fixed my camera and computor again and I thank him. He watches out for me and helps me with things I have no idea how to fix. Thanks Norm! Have a good night.

Happy St. Patricks Day!
It is a day when alot of people enjoy good company, sing and drink green Beer. It is at the beginning of spring. We can all be Irish for a day and have fun. It was -1 early this a.m. and cloudy now. We have had some of our biggest snowstorms on this day but spring is coming. The icebreaker has been reporting 20 inch thick ice in some spots on the bay and has been going back and forth making way for the ships that are supposed to start running in 8 days. We still have about 32 inches of snow on the ground and the trails are in great shape. The towns people are hoping for one more big week-end for snowmobiling. I hope they get their wish. Have a Happy St. Patrick Day!

Ice Breaker
Spring is surely coming. We looked out and the first ship is out on the lake. The ice breaker is out clearing a path for the big ships of the summer. We have heard them talking to a Coast Guard airplane most of the day. It is so nice to see the light out there again.
Sun
It was not real cold during the night and now it is 32 degrees. The sun is shining brightly and it feels great outside. Norm came over and worked on my computors this morning and got them going. He is getting my picture to update as soon as he can. I really appreciate him fixing them for me. Thanks Norm!!!! We are going out for fish dinner tonight and afterwards sit and talk by the fire. It is going to be another good day. You have one too!

WRONG!!!!!
Well, I did it again. I have Joshuas birthday posted a week early. I have it marked on the calendar as the 11th and it is the 18th. I'm trying this year not to forget the kids birthdays and then I get the dates wrong. UGH!!! Oh well, my intentions are good. It is a beautiful day. The sun is shining and it is warming up a little. It was 5 degrees during the night when I got up to put wood on the fire and it was up to 8 when I finally got up for the day. It was supposed to be in the 30's so we will see. Everyone feels better when the sun is out. My fox has been coming in every night. He has a lot of white on his face. Maybe he is an old fox, I like to think so. He looks through the compost heap and licks out the eggshells. He has a very pretty coat. He never comes near the house or garage. He is smart not to trust people. Have a good day!

Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Josh! Terries littlest is two. He can play on the computor, hook up the video games and for all purposes is one of the big guys now. It is funny how fast they grow and how much they know. He is much loved.
Opposite
What a difference a day makes. Yesterday it was -18 in the morning and this a.m. it was 18 above. It seems warm out now when it is in the 30's. I guess spring is coming. It might be warmer when we go downstate. I can hardly wait to see the big ships back out on the lake. I still miss hearing the fog horn. It had such a lonesome sound. Enjoy the day!

Deep Freeze!!!
We are at - 18 degrees this morning! It is so cold it takes your breath away. Where is the warmup we are supposed to be getting and is this really the 10th of March? Winter is really hanging on. The locks open in 15 days. It is going to be Easter in two weeks and Spring is going to be here in 10 days. We can make it! Brrrrrrrrr! Ya, I think so. Have a good day!

Northern Lights
I was having trouble sleeping last night and at about 2:30 a.m. I looked out at the stars. They were very bright due to a very cold,-15, clear night. I looked down toward the point and there they were--Gods light show--the northern lights. I was so happy to see them. Shafts of light shot up into the sky and the green-yellow glow came in ghostly waves across the sky. It is a very breathtaking sight. Dennis and I watched it and I can see how people from long ago thought it was spirits. Isn't it to bad that we know so much . Dennis went back to bed but I sat and watched into the wee hours of the morning. It makes you feel very small in this big universe and no church can make you feel more a part of Gods creation than nature itself. I had a great night and I will have a good day--hope you do to. Look to the sky when you get up at night. You never know what wonders you will see!

Jack Frost
Yikes!
Mr. Gore, where is the heat I'm supposed to be feeling from global warming? The thermometer is reading -13 and it is March 8th. We are COLD! I'm hoping for a little warmer weather soon. I feel sorry for people paying to heat their homes with propane or natural gas--fuel oil also. The wood we labored over this year was worth every once of sweat and sore muscles. We have not seen to many snowmobilers---to cold and gas prices are keeping people home. The summer doesn't look good for people up here if prices stay so high. I heard our government is starting to get concerned about our economy--I was concerned over a year or more ago. Gee, I wish I was as smart as them. Have a good day! I'm putting another log on the fire and filling up my coffee cup. Spring will be here March 20th. It's something to look forward to.

Cold and Snowy
The cold still has a grip and big fluffy flakes are falling. It is very pretty. The birds have been stuffing themselves all day and the suet is a big attraction. We found our old slides while cleaning and we will sit down tonight and relive the memories of our kids growing up. It is so much fun to see them and remember those we the best days. We miss them. Have a good afternoon!

Storm
Well, they are under another winter storm warning downstate. I'm very disappointed that the weather patterns are missing us. We have fewer people on the road up here and can deal with the snow better. We have a good base and the trails are excellant. People will not come up here if there is snow closer to home. We have the most beautiful place to ride but the cost of gas is killing us. We are getting some gentle snow and it is making everything look fresh and clean. They didn't call our town Paradise for nothing. It is 6 degrees this morning. Have a good day and don't forget to look up at the sky in the early hours--The stars and the moon are beautiful!

We could not ask for more. Have a good day and we hope your year is a good one. I hope you,Jen and Matt can come up to fish and relax this year. Love you! Mom and Dad

Out on the ice!
We got to see how our Coast Guard looks after the people they protect. A call came in that they thought someone went through the ice on a snowmobile out on the lake. They dispatched a helicopter crew to comb the ice at about 9:30 at night. It could have been earlier but that is when I first saw the lights and heard the copter. They combed the lake and made a good search. They do take very serious calls they get and rest assure if you are out there they will try and find you. They said that some people do not use good sense and do cross the big lake. I don't know why you would take on the Big Lake when there are so many places to ride but I guess that is the way people are. They do a good job and we appreciate them being there. It is a beautiful morning--we are supposed to get some freezing rain. I hope we end up with a good blanket of snow instead. Have a good morning!
