Last day!

I can't believe it's the last day of February. It is a very pretty day. The snow is falling and it looks clean and bright. Dennis saw the fox come in last night to check on what I put out for the birds. I didn't see his mate--maybe she had her kits. He found some bread and even made off with some suet. I really enjoy watching the things around me. The coyote or wolf sleeps out on the ice during the day. He lays behind the ice ridges and the sun warms him as it reflects it's rays off the snow. He is on the move at dusk. They are so smart and survive just fine in this frigid weather. Norm and Sandy are coming over and we will go to the fish fry. It is a weekly thing and Dennis and I look forward to going. It was 7 degrees this morning and we are in the 20's now. Wow! It's a heatwave. Have a great day!

COLD !!!!

Where is global warming? We are at -10. The sky is clear and the stars are shining very bright. It seems like you can see things on the moon in the very clear and cold sky. You wonder how the animals and little birds survive a cold night like this. We have had a lot of cold weather and the snow is adding up. The trails are very good--to bad people can't afford to come up and enjoy them. Have a good day and stay warm. My best friend is going to be the wood stove and the heat it delivers. Good early morning from Camp Runamuck!

Working!

Norm came over today and got our wireless internet working again. It was so frustrating not to have it. I was so happy he had the knowledge to fix it. I thought I would have to wait till one of the boys came up to fix it. He said "Old age and treachery always overcomes youth and skill". Thanks Norm! It is a beautiful sunny day and is about 17 degrees. The snow sparkles like diamonds. I think we will go out and use our snowshoes and enjoy the fresh air. Have a good day!

Bridge Closed!

The Mackinaw Bridge is closed due to falling ice. I don't know if Kate and Bill are coming now but I think after the sun stops shining on the bridge the ice will stop melting and falling. Dennis and I were just over the bridge yesterday and we never thought of ice coming down. I sure would have been upset to be on that side of the bridge and not be able to get home till late. You learn another thing each day! I hope they still come up.

Lull in Weather

Good morning! It sure is nice this side of the grass. 5 degrees this morning and a little warm up is on the way. This week-end it is supposed to be in the 20 degree range during the day and partly sunny. It is the Mardi Gras De Snow this week-end and town is packed. It is a much needed shot in the arm for this area. The trails are perfect. I just hope people use the good judgement and everyone goes home safe. Kate and Bill are going to be here today and Norm and Sandy are on their way back up. It should be a lot of fun and so good to see my sister and Bill. Dennis wants to go to the One Lunger Snowmobile race in Newberry tomarrow. I think we will be going out to the all you can eat fish dinner at Silver Creek Bar and Pub. You should go for it if you come up. They are very nice people and the food is very good. Have a great day.

How deep is the snow?

People ask how deep is the snow in Paradise? It is getting pretty deep. We got about 12 inches yesterday and we are getting flurries off and on today. We hope the snow keeps coming. Mike and his friends went home today. It was great to have them come up. I wish Tom, Scott and Brandon could have made it. I miss seeing them.

COLD!!!!!

Wow, it has been brutally cold the last couple of days. The snow just squeals under your feet. It was sunny today but that didn't make you feel any warmer. Warmer temperatures are going to be on the way and another snowstorm is supposed to be here on Thursday. Mike is coming up with some of his friends this week-end and Joe, Alida and kids might come up after going to the Great Wolf Lodge this week-end. It will be great to see them all. Keep warm!

Wow!

The snow is falling the wind is howling and we are snug and warm inside. My hand stuck to the door handle when I went outside to clear my birdfeeders. We have to go out and bring in more wood but are waiting for a lull in the weather. We have been listening to the scanner and the people who go out to get sick ones to the hospital are having a tuff time in this weather. They are angels to the ones they go after and are appreciated a lot. The bay was ice covered but now it is open and big waves are crashing into the ice mounds with a fury. The power of the wind and water is amazing. We will be sitting by the fire watching out the window at the goings on. Have a good day!

Blizzard Warning!

We finally are getting more snow. People up here were getting very discouraged that downstate was getting a lot of snow again. We are prepared for a lot of snow and we have been missing a lot of the storms we need. Well, I guess you have heard the saying "be careful what you wish for"! We are only expecting 7 to 8 inches of snow but the winds can be up to 50 miles an hour which can make it hard to see and drifting on the roads. Dennis has not had to blow the snow off our drive and paths for 3 days and it seemed strange. We like to be outside and this was a daily job for him. I road shotgun when he got to cleaning out at the top of the drive--watching for the big snow plow because if he didn't get out of the way he would be buried under the snow. They really travel fast pushing a lot of snow so beware. We are on a curve so it makes it impossible to see him coming until it is to late. I have to be almost in the middle of the road to warn him of impending danger. We are a team and work very good togethar--where he goes I go and visa versa. I watch out for him and he protects me from icey spots and things that could hurt me. Have a great day and I will be watching it turn into a winter wonderland again by a warm fire with a loving companion. Boy, am I lucky!

Super Bowl!!!!!

Dad and I are ready for the game. We are for the Patriots. Dad wants them to go all the way. I like to watch the games but have to ask questions all through them because I don't know that much about it. We have TGI Fridays chicken wings and Subs made by the senior class in Paradise. We will eat good. I was surprised how nice the subs were. The senior class did a great job! I always look at the sub buns and they were great!!!! Have fun and enjoy the game, we will!! Good Night from us!

sorry!!

I heard today that a young man has lost his life due to a accident. I pray for his family as he is a young man in the range of my kids. It is a very sad thing that someone goes out for a fun week-end and never goes back to the loved ones behind. I wish everyone would think of the people who are left to mourn the loss of them and slow down and make sure they keep themselves safe for those who love them. You are important and the people at home need you to come home safe. THINk!!!!!!
Have fun but temper that with common sense. Go home safe , have a good time but use your head and be a safe snowmobiler. God be with you but don't push common sense. A Mom from Paradise wishes you safe passage back home to your familys. They need you!

Cleaning Up
