Sunny!

What a day! The sun has been out and it has been a great day. We went into town to get the mail and a lady slid into our truck. I felt very sorry for her because it was an accident and she was so upset. She was o.k. and the truck can be fixed so it was the best outcome. She came into the hardware store looking for us and that tells you a lot about the type of person she is. We have had a good day and went to Norm and Sandys for awhile. It is nice to be able to see my brother and his family. I wish my sister could get up here more often but with her large family it is very hard. You get to appreciate what is really important when things happen. I am very happy that my truck is the only thing that has a little problem. People are the important things. The Senior Class up here are having a sub sale for their class and I'm supporting all their efforts. They are a great group of kids. Have a good night and love one another. Hope you in the lower don't get all our snow!

Blizzard!

We have been under a blizzard advisery. The winds have been terrific. Snow has been falling and whiting out the roads and area around us. The waves have been breaking up the ice ridges and pieces 4 to 5 ft. tall and 15 to 20 ft. long have been pounded by large waves crashing into them. The temperatures have stayed in the single digits all day. Last night I woke up to thunder and the lightning lit up the sky with a blue and pink light because of all the snow in the air. It was a sight to see. The birds flocked to the feeders trying to hold their ground in the fierce winds. A tiny vole trying to gather some seeds from the ground was sent end over end by a gust of wind and scurried back to the safety of the woods. We lost power but it was not long and we had it back. The men who work outside in this weather should be congradulated--it is not easy. The snow is still falling but the winds have died down. We will see what tomarrow brings. Have a good night!

Rain!

We had some periods of rain last night. It took us down to under two ft. of snow. The rest of today was quiet, misty at times. I hope we get a lot of snow tonight. The trails are still holding because of the good snow base. A good snow tonight and cold temperatures will make it a great week-end. You never know what will really come until you see it. We are hoping for the best. We have our wood supply in the house, extra water gathered in case of electric outage and a freezer and cupboards full. Let the snow gods loose! Hold on to your caps! Winter is making a comeback! Goodnight from us!

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Sandy! I was gone all day and want to tell her what a treasure she is to so many people. We really appreciate all the things you do for everyone. My brother is very lucky to have a lifemate like you. Have a good day what is left. Love, Barb

Quiet!!!

It got to zero last night and made it to 3 when I got up. It is now 13 and no snow. We did not get any last night--a little dusting. It looks very gloomy, no sun. I keep thinking it is going to dump some snow on us but so far we have just a few stray flakes now and then. I wish it would snow or get sunny. Everyone always feels better when the sun is shining. Norm, Sandy, Dennis and I are going out for fish dinner tonight and we are looking forward to the outing. They are coming back to our place to sit and talk by the fire. Norm was over for over a couple of hours helping us with our e-mail woes. They got it fixed. Success!!! Have a good day! It's nice this side of the grass!

3ft.

Good morning! We got another 5 to 6 inches of snow overnight. We are pretty close to the 3 ft. mark on the snowstick. It snowed a fine snow off and on yesterday and the snow picked up at about 10:30 last night. Some blue sky is trying to break through. It should be a great week-end for all who like the winter sports. It is 9 degrees but it is a dry cold. Dennis and I were outside most of the day and enjoyed being there. We are planning to free one of the other woodpiles from it's snow prison so we can get to it when we need to. Enjoy the day! I am.

It keeps coming!

Good Morning! We woke up to 5 or 6 inches of fresh snow and it is still coming down. It is sifting like fine sugar. We are under a snow advisery until tomarrow morning. It is 5 degrees now and the wind is blowing. Norm shoveled off his garage roof yesterday and is glad he did. Our homes have the steeper roofs but the snow tends to get 6 to 8 inches before it slides in this cold weather. The snowmobiling is great. The dogsled races this week-end will be good also. Winter sports have a lot of good snow to run on. Have a good morning---it's what you make it!

Deep Freeze!

It is very cold again this morning. The snow is still heavy on the trees. Birds and animals are having to hunt for food in cold temperatures and deep snow. The fire is burning brightly and the warmth radiates throughout the house. It is a good day to read a good book and enjoy looking out the window. Wish everyone could join us. Have a great morning!

Winter Wonderland

COLD!!!!!!!!

We have finally gotten some snow. It is finally starting to look like Paradise should. It is 9 degrees right now. Norm came over and got my computor going again. Power went out and then I could not get back on the net. Thanks Norm! We are supposed to get some more snow tonight. The trails are great and it is good to see town busy. I have some pictures to post. Have a nice afternoon!

BIG SNOW!!!!!!

Snow came in and we have about 12 new inches of it. It started yesterday afternoon and it is still snowing. The weather man was right for a change. The trees and trails are beautiful. There were a few more people at the motels but we have room for a lot more. It was nice to see smiling faces and hope for a good winter. Norm,Sandy,Dennis and I went out for all you can eat fish at Silver Creek Pub and it was very good. You didn't have to ask for anything. Nice people, good company and good food--nice evening--we will be returning. I will post pictures later. Hurrah for snow--lifes blood up here. It is still snowing. Have a good morning!

A little more!

I was disappointed about the amount of snow we got from this last advisory. We woke up to about 3 more inches and we were hoping for 8 to 12. The trails look great and it was nice to see some snowmobilers on our walk last night. It is supposed to get down right cold this week-end so that puts a crimp in the snowmobile riding. We are supposed to get more snow. The roads were bad last night and the scanner was busy. There is a lot of cloud cover so maybe we will pick up some more snow to add to the trails. I hope to put some new snow pictures up this week-end so the snow dance is on. Good Morning and a pleasant day!

Snowing!

The snow is falling. We got six inches since yesterday and it is still falling. I am hoping we continue to get a few inches every day. It would be great since we are coming to a long week-end for a lot of people. Snow is white gold for us.

Advisery posted and Snowman back

Dad got the Snowman back in his place of honor. I missed his happy face and waving hand. He is back just in time because we have a winter advisery posted. Hopefully we will get a lot of snow. It is pretty sad when they get more snow downstate than us. I think everyone around us has been doing the snow dance. Town is very empty and we need to see a lot of snowmobilers. They are getting the trails ready so come up to God's country and see us. The beauty of the area is worth the trip. I hope to be able to post some snowy pictures tomarrow. Back to the football game. Have a good night.

SNOW!!!!!

We got about 3 to 4 inches of snow over night. Hopefully it will continue to add up. Dad has to fix our poor snowman as the high winds broke him. It is on the to due list for today. The winds and the snow made a 2 hour delay for Whitefish schools. It does not happen much. We are going to Norms for supper tonight to celebrate Brendans 6th birthday. Happy Birthday Brendan!! It is always hard believe how fast the kids grow. Off to help mend Jim and Kellys snowman. Have a good afternoon.

Safe!

The winds are howling and ships are anchoring in the bay. They are seeking shelter from the high winds. There are 11 ships out there now and I expect more. We lost power several times this morning and during the night. My brother has a propane operated generator and it is getting used. He could run his place and mine with power to spare. It is a good feeling to be able to run your home when the electric company is down. They do a good job of keeping everyone on but sometimes the wind and wet ground make for many trees going down. I love to see the ships out in front. I also like to know they are out of harms way. Terrie is going to try and get better pictures of the ships. The fire is going, the house is warm and I have a fresh pot of coffee. Life is good.

Hope

We sure need it to get cold. People up here really need snow and snowmobilers. The town is quiet and people spending money are not here. Hopefully we will get snow tonight and by this week-end snow will once again be on the trails. Good Night from Camp Runamuck

Lull in Weather

Dad took me to the point this afternoon to see what it looked like since the weather has turned warmer. We have not gotten any rain or freezing rain. I hope it stays like this because we won't have as much snow loss. The trails still look o.k. in our area because there is not many snowmobilers.

The ice has made some interesting forms on things. We need snow. I think many people are doing the Snow Dance up here. Have a good night.

COLD!!!!!!!!

It has been very cold the last two nights. It looks like the usual Michigan weather. We go from one extreme to the other. The wind is supposed to howl this afternoon and tonight and the temperature is suppose to rise with rain in the future. I hope this is wrong because snow is the towns bread and butter and we really need it. The trails look good now and there are few sleds in town. I pray we dodge the bullet.

I made a mistake on my last post. Becca starts her senior year this year but is in the class of 2009. Sorry Becca! I didn't mean for time to pass faster than it already is.

The birds are flocking to the feeders. I went out and filled them this morning. I guess they need more to eat to keep warm. Windchills will be brutal. Have a good morning. I'm putting another log on the fire and warming my coffee---God bless!

Happy New Year!!

The New Year has arrived. It has been a great week and a half. The kids were all home for Christmas and some were able to get up here in Paradise. Ann, Rich, Sarah and Terese were able to make the trip up. Jim brought Matt, Pierce, and Kyle since Joe, Alida, Dennis and Jen had to work. Mike and Tom couldn,t get off either. The kids played out in the snow and had a great time. The adults relaxed. Norm and Sandy came over for New Years Eve. Jackie. Jeff and Nicholas came too. Terrie, Ryan, Brenden, Aaron and Joshua made the celebration complete. The kids played, younger people played cards and us Grandparents watched the goings on. It was a nice evening but those who were not here were missed. I can't believe another year has passed. Becca graduates this year. Sarah will be a freshman in highschool, Pierce will join Celeste in junior high. The kids are all growing up. Life is good! We wish everyone health and happiness. Goodnight from Camp Runamuck!
